The Dorchester County delinquent tax collector will hold the county's annual Delinquent Tax Sale next month.
The event will start 10 a.m. on Nov. 5 in Council Chambers in St. George, located at 201 Johnston Street.
If the sale doesn't end by 3 p.m., it will continue at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 6 and subsequent days, as needed, in the same location and time until all properties are sold.
Properties will be sold in the following order: 1) real property and 2) mobile homes and in alphabetical order, according to the owner’s last name or business name.
All real property and mobile homes with delinquent taxes are subject to sale. To avoid the sale, all delinquent taxes, assessments, penalties and costs must be received and processed by the Dorchester County Delinquent Tax Office prior to 5 p.m. Nov. 2. Cash, money order and cashier’s check are the only payment types that will be accepted for delinquent taxes.
Bidders may register to bid in the Delinquent Tax Office, during normal business hours Oct. 29 through Nov. 2, or 9-10 a.m. on the day of the sale in Council Chambers in St. George. There will be no bidder registration once the sale starts.
Payment must be made in full via cash, cashier’s check, or money order. Personal checks, debit cards and/or credit cards will not be accepted for bids made at the tax sale.
