People who’ve been delinquent in paying property taxes for three or more years risk losing their properties during a sale on May 22.
The county Department of Finance will put 13 properties up for auction beginning at 9 a.m. at the Kihei Community Center. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. The sale may continue May 23, if necessary.
The highest bidder needs to pay with a certified or cashier’s check.
The property owners have received final notices of tax sale.
The number of properties available for sale may be reduced if owners pay all taxes, penalties, interest and costs before the auction.
The list of available properties has been posted at the Real Property Tax Collections office at the Maui Mall Service Center and at the Kalana O Maui Building and Hoapili Hale in Wailuku. It also can be inspected at the Molokai Real Property Tax Office and the Lanai Senior Center.
